Are all Hawaii news pages political now?

Our take

In the evolving landscape of Hawaii's news media, many are questioning the political leanings of local news pages and where residents are sourcing their information. Outlets such as MyKailua, Mean Hawaii, and Hawaii Right Now appear to lean right, with new platforms emerging frequently. The recent partnership between KiTV and these sites has raised eyebrows and led some to reconsider their followings. While Hawaii News Now has faced criticism for AI-generated content with errors, Civil Beat's reliability has been inconsistent. Despite the noise, 808 Viral stands out as a neutral, women-run platform, though it focuses more on entertainment than hard news. This situation highlights the pressing need for a responsible and unbiased news source, as comment sections across platforms often devolve into negativity.

Where is everyone getting their news from? It just gets worse. Hawaii news report, MyKailua, mean Hawaii, Hawaii right now, hhhNewz, stolen stuff Hawaii, aloha state daily are all right leaning…..And there are new ones continually popping up. Now KiTV is partnering with them which is surprising and disappointing. I had to unfollow. Hawaii News now seems ok but suddenly had weird Ai headlines and graphics with misspellings and incorrect information. Civil beat is inconsistent. Don’t get be started on stolen stuff Hawaii, that guy just went way off the rails. 808 Viral still my favorite, is neutral and I love that it is women run. But they are mostly entertainment that only does news sometimes, not really a news page. There seems to be a real need for a responsible neutral news source. Comment sections on all these accounts is a cesspool.
