Family in Waialua red flood zone not evacuating

Our take

A family in Waialua is facing a challenging situation as they remain in a red flood zone, directly across from Otake Camp. The father of four young children and his pregnant girlfriend are refusing to evacuate, despite the hazardous conditions. Communication is limited, and while the community is rallying to provide support and resources, the father is not allowing the children's mother to pick them up or speak with them.

My ex has our kids in Waialua. They are in a red zone right across from Otake camp and he is refusing to evacuate. Is there anything I can do to at least get the kids to safety? There are 4 young children in that house and his girlfriend is pregnant. He will not respond to my request to pick up the kids or offering up my house to his family.

A few people have asked so here’s an UPDATE:

The roads are open but I heard electricity won’t be back on until Monday. Cell service is up, but spotty.

The community came together and there are a lot of groups helping out with cleanup, supply distribution, food, etc.

Their dad says the kids are safe but won’t let me talk to them or pick them up a day early (per custody schedule) to get them out of the disaster zone. He got mad at me for offering.

Rescue workers had video of their street/neighborhood and it’s covered in mud and debris. I heard they’re being advised to boil all tap water until further notice.

Just got back from dropping off water to a relief station. Unfortunately I don’t have the right gear to help with the debris cleanup. Didn’t get to see the kids when I was up there.
