Things I want to see in stores 2026

This is not so much a trend prediction, but more just me ranting about what i want haha!

[ Better Patterns ]

I love a good pattern, even if it's not my style, but everyone has been slacking. The rise of polka dots was a great decision in my opinion and i hope we see more revival patterns like that.

However...

Stores have been slacking. Spring is the floral pattern season... why do the flowers all look the same and just repeat the same thing over and over? I want to see more intricate floral patterns that have more than 2 flower images just plastered halfhazardly. I want to see better spacing and better colours! Why is it always pink green yellow and blue!?? I want to see gem tones, muted tones, hell even try doing some autumnal tones just to spice it up!

We're also severely lacking in other fun patterns like swirls and checker. Not to mention the vast variety of patterns from 2010 lost to time. I. Want. More!

[ Slouchy Fabrics ]

Why is everything so tight or too baggy? Why is all the fabric supposed to sit 'just right'? Where are the slouchy long sleeves with balloon sleeves that tighten around the forearm? What about the v neck tees that are long and supposed to be worn with a cami underneath?

Off duty model style keeps popping up as a trend and this is what they tend to wear— so why aren't stores duplicating this?

Also what ever happened to the tops/dresses that were tight on the hips or waist and loose everywhere else? It's flattering on everyone! It gives the illusion of shape even if the person doesnt have it! Come on people! Get your head in the game!

[ Ornamental Jewelry ]

Okay... 2011 went too far with the 'owls'... but can we get some of that back? I hate amorphous blobs of metal on earrings and necklaces. It's too kim kardashians house of minimalist horror for me. I want cute jewelry again with little animals like maybe a blue jay or a little bear! Those are so cute! What happened to little flower pendants and plant motifs?? Bring back real jewelry!

Also bracelets need an update. I want to see bangles. I want to see some variety. Layering bracelets used to be huge— a little bangle plus a charm bracelet plus a sleek simple bracelet? Genius. Do it again.

[ More Shoes ]

The only way to have unique shoes nowadays is to buy super expensive luxury ones or buy your shoes in a 'unique' colour. I don't wear a lot of colour so that takes me away from having cool shoes. Im sick of sneakers following the same shoe format 9 different times or heels that have 4 variations of open vs closed toe/heel.

I want to see the shoes from the 2000s. They wrinkled on purpose, had multiple zippers, buttons, laces, heels of variety, fur, cut outs, etc! They did so many things and did it while being the most basic shoe colours. Lets go back to that please!

[ Experimentation ]

People are always looking for certain colours and styles year round. That's just a given. With the rise of colour analyst and people refusing to buy 'not in their palette' why are we not diversifying colour between seasons?

"Florals for spring? Groundbreaking..."

EXACTLY! Why don't we see darker reds, greens, and blues in the spring/summer? Maybe not a whole range, but at least something! Black dresses still leave most stores first before any of the pastel dresses for a reason! Give me sapphire blue bathing suits and cover ups that are burgundy! It’s called having some fun! Switch it up a bit!
