Unlicensed hairstylist working in a salon rips out hair.
Location: Georgia, USA
Hello all, I need advice.
A young adult family member of mine went to get her hair done by a stylist who claimed she was licensed (we later found out she wasn’t) and while washing and detangling her hair she yanked out at least 30% of her hair.
My family member said she got up and looked in the sink and there was so much hair she started crying and hyperventilating.
She asked the stylist why so much of her hair was in the sink and what kind of comb/brush was used and then she saw a tool nearby that she had never seen before.
The stylist advised it was a detangling tool she uses on all her clients but my family member stated she’s been getting her hair washed and styled for years and has never seen a tool like that before used.
My cousin has very curly hair if that detail is important and her hair isn’t hard to manage at all.
My cousin took photos of the tool and all of the hair that was left on the sink and on the floor and has been crying non stop now for days.
She won’t eat, can’t sleep and feels horrible. I advised her to reach out to a therapist because this is affecting her deeply and she told me she’s booked an appointment for next week sometime.
When the stylist blow dried her hair my family member said she could see gaps in her hair where there were none 2 days prior.
We looked up the stylist and found that she isn’t a licensed cosmetologist in the state of Georgia like she said she was and I wanted to know is there anything we can do?
She works at a salon that is owned by someone else.
