My Grandfather’s 1956 Voyage on Arosa Kulm – Looking for Photos & Other Passengers

Hello everyone,

I’m researching my grandfather’s journey from Europe to Canada in 1956 and was hoping someone here might be able to help.

His name was Paul Brummer, born on December 15th, 1935. He emigrated to Canada aboard the Arosa Kulm in July 1956.

From his documents and passport stamps, I’ve been able to piece together the following timeline:

  • 7 July 1956 – left Wil (St. Gallen), Switzerland
  • 11 July 1956 – departed Le Havre, France
  • 21 July 1956 – arrived in Quebec, Canada

Some additional details from his travel contract:

  • Ship: Arosa Kulm (Arosa Line)
  • Route: Le Havre to Quebec
  • Class: Tourist Class
  • Age: 20, travelling with a friend whose last name was Ruckstuhl
  • Occupation listed as “Dreher” (machinist/turner)
  • He was quite seasick

I’m mainly looking for:

  • Photos from this voyage
  • Passenger lists from this crossing
  • Or anyone who had family members on board at the same time
  • People who may know stories from this journey

I’ve come across a few photos from around that voyage, but nothing that clearly includes him, so I’m hoping to find more or possibly connect with others researching the same trip.
I found pictures from Thomas A. Weyersberg from that same trip (He got on the boat in Bremerhaven on June 27th: https://www.timetableimages.com/maritime/images/akulm.htm
Thanks in advance for any help
